AI for Good Global Summit 2025: A Gateway to Innovation and Global Collaboration

The AI for Good Global Summit 2025 will take place at Palexpo in Geneva from 8-11 July, bringing together global leaders to explore AI’s impact on global challenges. Key events will include "The Great AI Debate," AI Governance, the Quantum for Good initiative, AI Impact Awards, and the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge.

The AI for Good Global Summit 2025 is set to take place at Palexpo, the largest convention centre in Geneva, from 8 to 11 July. Organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with 47 United Nations (UN) agencies and co-convened by the Government of Switzerland, this four-day summit will serve as a prominent platform for discussing the future of AI technologies. The event aims to bring together over 1,000 leading AI experts, innovators, and decision-makers from around the globe, as well as attract more than 10,000 participants from various sectors.

The summit will commence with “The Great AI Debate,” a conversation between Yann LeCun, Head of AI at Meta AI, and Geoffrey Hinton, a Nobel Laureate. These two pioneers, known as the "Godfathers of AI," will offer their perspectives on the evolving AI landscape, setting the tone for a series of discussions, workshops, and keynote addresses scheduled over the four days.

The summit will feature more than 200 demonstrations from around the world, showcasing cutting-edge innovations and real-world AI solutions. These presentations will span a variety of sectors, demonstrating AI’s potential in tackling complex global challenges. Workshops, panel presentations, and networking events will be open to the public, offering ample opportunities for participants to engage with experts, learn from the latest research, and explore practical applications of AI technologies.

AI Governance and Standards

On 10 July, the AI for Good Summit will host a full day dedicated to AI Governance Dialogue, where international leaders and stakeholders will exchange ideas on effective strategies for AI governance. This conversation will address the ethical, legal, and social implications of AI technologies, aiming to develop frameworks that promote responsible AI deployment.

The summit will also feature the International AI Standards Exchange on 11 July, organised in collaboration with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This session will focus on the future trajectory of AI and the importance of establishing international technical standards to foster innovation while addressing global concerns.

Quantum for Good Initiative and AI for Impact

The 2025 summit will introduce the Quantum for Good initiative, coinciding with the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. This initiative highlights the potential of quantum technologies to address critical areas such as cybersecurity and medicine, aligning with AI’s transformative capabilities.

A key feature of the summit is the AI for Good Impact Awards, which will recognise AI-driven projects that have made a significant social impact. These awards focus on initiatives that contribute to environmental sustainability, social good, and ethical AI innovation. The winners will be showcased on 9 July, providing them with a global platform to scale their impact. Submissions for these awards are currently open until 15 May.

Artistic Intelligence: Exploring the Intersection of AI and Art

In addition to technical discussions, the summit continues its focus on Artistic Intelligence, a series of initiatives that explore the relationship between AI, art, and culture. The Artistic Intelligence Visionary Initiative (A.I.V.I), curated by R100Studios and supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea, will spotlight artists whose works push the boundaries of how AI shapes culture and creativity. This year, the Canvas of the Future AI art contest will invite submissions reflecting how technology can create a sustainable and connected future. The winning artwork will be displayed at the summit, with submissions open until 15 May.

Film and Startups: Spotlight on Innovation

The summit will also showcase the AI for Good Film Festival, where filmmakers will present projects integrating AI in areas like scriptwriting, production, and visual effects. The festival highlights the growing synergy between AI and creative industries, showcasing how AI is enhancing the filmmaking process.

Moreover, the Innovation Factory Grand Finale will feature live pitches from innovative AI startups, with a special focus on women-led AI startups and female entrepreneurs from the Global South. The competition offers startups the chance to present their solutions to a panel of investors and industry leaders, with applications open until 30 April.

Youth Engagement and Robotics for Good

In line with its commitment to shaping the future, the AI for Good Global Summit 2025 will expand its Youth Zone, an interactive space for young participants to engage with AI and robotics. The Youth Zone will host a wide range of workshops and hands-on sessions designed for children and teenagers aged 7 to 18. The space is aimed at fostering an interest in AI among the younger generation, providing them with the tools to shape the future.

One of the highlights of the Youth Zone will be the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Grand Finale, where over 1200 participants from 25+ countries will compete to showcase robots designed for disaster management. This finale will be a powerful reminder of the critical role that young innovators play in addressing the world’s challenges.
