London College Of Fashion: Student Life

London College of Fashion, UAL offers an open, welcoming community where students and faculty come together with a shared passion and understanding of the impact fashion can have — everyone is constantly inspired by the energy of the campus and the city itself. With over 5,500 students from a hundred countries, the community reflects diverse cultures, backgrounds and perspectives.

London is a city of character, and studying here gives the fashion students opportunities to explore a place rich in history, culture, and new experiences. Whether they’re sightseeing along the River Thames, exploring the live music scene, or enjoying the food culture, there’s always something to do. From the new location at East Bank, the UK’s new cultural quarter at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the faculty forges partnerships, opens up opportunities, and creates connections with east London’s schools, community and industry.

While London College of Fashion doesn’t arrange accommodation in the city, the faculty points students to options that past students successfully used including platforms like Airbnb, Interlet and Short Let London, serviced apartments, or renting privately through trusted agencies like Foxtons and Savills. At East Bank, students have a Cultural Programme of events, digital experiences and exhibitions that are open to all students and the public, giving them valuable inspiration right on their doorstep. Throughout the building, they’ll find social spaces designed to help them connect, build community, and feel a sense of belonging with peers.

Student Hubs are on floors 4, 6 and 8 at the East Bank campus with kitchen facilities, seating and amazing views of London. The canteen turns into a bar in the evening, making it the perfect place to relax after a day of studies, and Benugo Café on the ground floor is great for a quick coffee.

Students automatically become a member of Arts Students Union. This organisation is separate from the University and run events and activities throughout the year, from creative workshops to fundraising and showcases to cultural celebrations. Engaging with Arts SU is a great way to meet like-minded people, try out new activities, and make even more friends. Play a sport or want to try something new?

Arts SU runs sports clubs with everything from hockey and rugby to surfing and jiu jitsu on offer. Students don’t need experience to get involved. If sport isn’t your thing, they run academic, cultural, political, faith and environmental societies. There’s something for everyone, from the Taylor Swift Society to the Animanga Society. If you can’t find something to get involved in, the Arts SU can help you set up your own society or even Buddy up!
