6 November 2026 – Limited Run Games, in collaboration with Capcom, has announced the return of Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 in a physical Nintendo Switch release, giving fans and collectors an opportunity to own the second half of the classic Mega Man X series on a game card.
Announced on 3 November 2026, the release will be available in three editions: Standard, Double Pack and Maverick Hunter. Prices start at $39.99, with the premium collector's package priced at $139.99.
The collection includes Mega Man X5, Mega Man X6, Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8, bringing together four entries from Capcom's long-running action-platforming franchise.
Limited Run Games has opened pre-orders for all three editions, with orders closing on 3 January 2027 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.
Four Classic Mega Man X Games Return in One Collection
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 brings together four games originally released across different console generations, allowing players to revisit the later entries in the Mega Man X series.
The collection includes Mega Man X5, Mega Man X6, Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8, which follow the continuing adventures of X and Zero as they battle powerful enemies and confront threats from rogue Reploids.
Players can control X, using his arm cannon and other abilities to defeat enemies, or play as Zero, whose combat style focuses on close-range attacks with his energy saber.
The games combine platforming, combat and boss encounters, with gameplay evolving across the four entries as the franchise moved between different generations of hardware.
The physical release gives Nintendo Switch owners another way to collect the titles, which have previously been available through digital editions of the compilation.
Additional Features Include X Challenge and an Animated Prequel
Beyond the original games, the collection includes additional content exploring the history of the franchise.
One of its main features is X Challenge, a mode that allows players to face two bosses simultaneously in battles that test their knowledge of enemy attack patterns and combat strategies.
The collection also includes an archive of production artwork, historical merchandise catalogues and promotional materials from the Mega Man X series.
Fans can explore content documenting the development and promotion of the games, providing a look at the franchise's evolution.
An animated prequel film examining the origins of Sigma, one of the series' recurring antagonists, is also included.
These features give returning players access to additional material alongside the four main games.
