Ninja JaJaMaru Returns With Yokai Night Parade for PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5

Clear River Games and City Connection have announced Ninja JaJaMaru: Yokai Night Parade, a new hack-and-slash action RPG blending Japanese folklore with 1990s hip-hop culture.
Karlstad, Sweden — 24 August 2026 — Clear River Games and City Connection have announced Ninja JaJaMaru: Yokai Night Parade, a new action RPG coming to Steam, Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5.
The game acts as a spiritual successor to Ninja JaJaMaru: The Great Yokai Battle and reimagines the series with a new visual identity inspired by Japanese yokai mythology and 1990s street culture.
A playable demo is also being shown at gamescom.
Japanese Folklore Meets 90s Hip-Hop
Ninja JaJaMaru: Yokai Night Parade introduces a distinct “Yokai × Hip-Hop” style.
The game combines traditional Japanese creatures and mythology with bright colours, streetwear-inspired visuals and rhythmic presentation.
The result is designed to keep the franchise’s retro identity while giving it a more contemporary feel.
Fast-Paced Hack-and-Slash Combat
The game focuses on quick action and large groups of enemies.
Players can move across platforms, use aerial attacks and chain together melee combinations.
Ranged attacks are also available, with different weapon types offering different animations and combat styles.
The game includes nine ultimate skills, each of which can be upgraded across five tiers.
This gives players more room to customise how they approach combat as they progress.
A Spiritual Successor to The Great Yokai Battle
The Ninja JaJaMaru series has roots in classic Japanese gaming.
Yokai Night Parade builds on that history rather than simply recreating an older title.
Clear River Games and City Connection describe the project as a modern continuation of the series, combining familiar arcade-style action with new progression systems and a more stylised presentation.
Playable at gamescom
Players attending gamescom can try the game at the Clear River Games booth in Hall 10.2.
The public demo gives fans an early look at the combat, visual style and overall direction of the new title.
The game also appeared during the Pixel Arcadia digital showcase on 24 August.
Steam Page Now Live
The official Steam page for Ninja JaJaMaru: Yokai Night Parade is now available, allowing players to wishlist the title ahead of release.
The game will launch on:
- Steam
- Nintendo Switch 2
- PlayStation 5
A final release date has not yet been announced.
Clear River Games Continues Its Retro Revival Strategy
Clear River Games has built its catalogue around classic franchises, retro-inspired releases and modern reinterpretations of older games.
The publisher says its aim is to make vintage and revived game franchises accessible to both long-time fans and new audiences.
City Connection, meanwhile, owns the IP of former Japanese game maker Jaleco and has focused on preserving and modernising classic game properties.
The partnership on Yokai Night Parade continues that broader strategy.
