Top Reasons Why Hispanics Are the Best Business Owners
2 Oct 2025, 8:28 am GMT+1
Growing up, one of my friends was Hispanic.
Coming from the same neighborhood, we both started our small businesses simultaneously.
As we both stepped into the real world, with the same degree and the same qualification, I realized something was truly different.
While I struggled with my small businesses, he was doing something different.
While the individual days were slow, I hired three employees within my first month. On the contrary, he did not hire any employee even after six months.
Then came the surprise.
He hired six close family members who then helped him scale. Today, while my business is still making a few thousand in profit, his business is truly flourishing.
So, I asked him directly, What are you doing right?
If you are also a business owner curious about the secret recipe behind his success, keep reading. This content piece will offer you a unique perspective on Hispanic business owners and some of the best habits that help them build an empire.
Top Reasons Hispanics Are the Best Business Owners
Tech before All
Hispanics are tech-oriented. This does not mean they have high qualifications related to tech, nor will you notice a lot of coders in the business. Instead, they are familiar with a different side of tech that most people do not understand.
Since Hispanics are immigrants, they have a family back home to stay connected to. This is the reason they use social media more, spend more time online, and are the largest population spending time on smartphones.
All these credentials are good enough to make them a natural leader in the world of tech. Their insight into tech is so good that even tech-based companies are constantly struggling to get their attention through different tactics. For instance, Spectrum is an internet service provider in the USA. The brand recognizes the impact of the Hispanic population in tech so much that they have Spectrum en español, so their Hispanic customers can seek information easily.
Family business
Hispanics are fully focused on family values. They prefer spending time with family and include their family members in each decision. This is the reason most of the Hispanic businesses can often be traced back to a generation.
Even the new Latino businesses have a strong involvement of family, which is the reason you will see kids participating in nearly every business. This involvement at such a young age eventually helps instill good business ethics and a much better understanding of running a business in these youngsters.
Eventually, when these Latino kids grow up, they are much better at handling business and making decisions compared to the kids from other minorities.
Hard Work
Most Hispanic families are immigrants, which means they have to start from scratch. The majority of these Hispanic families train their kids for simple chores, and eventually, when they grow up, they are encouraged to participate more.
All these simple tasks performed at a young age instill a habit of working hard. Apart from this, most kids grow up seeing their parents giving it all. From working hard at their jobs to pushing their kids to do better at school. This healthy environment helps kids to become resilient even when things are not going their way.
Eventually, when kids grow up and start their businesses, they do not shy away from hard work even in the most challenging times.
High Motivation
Most Hispanic people have their extended families back home. These families work as their motivation because most of them send money back home to support their families. Eventually, when these individuals bring their families to the US, their burden increases. They have to feed the family in the US while financing their families back home.
This consistent pressure creates a sense of hustle in their lives. Even in the most struggling times, you will never see Hispanic people taking a back seat. Moreover, they are the first to volunteer when it comes to new work and learning opportunities, and first to apply these skills.
Work Ethics
For running a business, creativity and connections are not enough. You also need a strong work ethic and discipline in your life. While other people struggle with this idea, people from a Latino background generally have a very disciplined lifestyle.
As most immigrant, they feel the consistent need to fit, so they have to work hard in school. Moreover, most Hispanics have multiple side hustles along with family duties. All these things require a lot of work and a very strong work ethic. These youngsters, when they step into business, become exceptional leaders.
They are the first ones to enter and the last ones to leave the workplace. Moreover, they understand the constant struggle of balancing multiple aspects of life, which helps them understand the needs of their employees.
Simply put, Hispanics, when they move to new countries, have a very tough life. This tough upbringing eventually helps them become exceptional leaders in real life.
