Summary

Acadia Realty Trust is an equity real estate investment trust focused on delivering long-term, profitable growth via its dual Core Portfolio and Fund operating platforms and its disciplined, location-driven investment strategy.

Acadia Realty Trust is accomplishing this goal by building a best-in-class core real estate portfolio with meaningful concentrations of assets in the nation's most dynamic corridors; making profitable opportunistic and value-add investments through its series of discretionary, institutional funds; and maintaining a strong balance sheet.

History

Acadia Realty Trust is a real estate investment trust (REIT) that was established in 1993. The company was founded by Kenneth F. Bernstein, who had previously worked as an executive at Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers. The company has its headquarters in White Plains, New York and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: AKR).

Acadia Realty Trust originally focused on acquiring and operating retail properties in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States. Over the years, the company has diversified its portfolio to include office, industrial and residential properties. As of 2021, the company owns and operates over 30 million square feet of commercial real estate across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

Acadia Realty Trust has a history of successful acquisitions, including the purchase of the historic Times Square Building in New York City in 2007. In 2014, the company acquired a portfolio of shopping centres from The Macerich Company, which added more than 10 million square feet of retail space to the company’s portfolio. In 2020, the company acquired the assets of JBG Smith, adding an additional 4 million square feet to its portfolio.

Acadia Realty Trust continues to be a leader in the commercial real estate industry, with a portfolio of high-quality assets that are well-positioned for long-term growth and success.
