Acerinox was founded in 1970 by the fusion of four previously established companies in Spain, namely Unión Coil, Sidenor Acerinox, Tábola Siderúrgica Canaria and Servicio Técnico Vigilancia. The company was officially launched in October 1971, when the first melting furnace was switched on at its factory in Los Barrios, in the province of Cádiz, Andalusia.
