At the start, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank was the vision of a group of miners who formed the South Australian Mining Association in 1851. The association opened their first bank in Bendigo, Victoria in October 1858, and by the late 1870s had grown to become one of Australia’s largest banks. In November 2007, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank demutualised and was admitted to the ASX, joining the network of listed companies on the Australian Securities Exchange.
