Berkeley Lights, Inc. was founded in 2010 with a focus on bringing the precision of semiconductor device fabrication to life sciences and cell engineering. Berkeley Lights' aspiration of optimizing biology through integrating optics, data and other technologies was born by combining the expertise of an interdisciplinary team of technical leaders and business professionals. The founding management team includes founding CEO Eric Schmidt who has since been succeeded by Kelly Ganz in 2017.
