Biography

Boris Scharinger began his career as a Dealer and Helping Hand at Acorn Computers Ltd from 1992 to 1994. He then worked as an IT Consultant at CSC Ploenzke AG from November 1998 to June 2004, where he was involved in various IT projects, ranging from IT strategy consulting to systems integration and electronic marketplace projects.

In June 2004, Scharinger joined Siemens, where he held several roles over almost seven years. Initially, he served as IT Infrastructure Manager for Logistics & Assembly until December 2005. He then became the Global Shared Services IT Portfolio and Organisation Manager until December 2007. Subsequently, he was appointed Chief IT Architect of Siemens IT Solutions and Services, a position he held from January 2008 to March 2011. During this period, he drove IT service management and service provisioning automation based on SOA and MDA concepts and played a crucial role in refining and implementing the IT infrastructure for a large company operating in over 40 countries.

From April 2011 to January 2015, Scharinger worked as Account CTO for Nokia Networks at Atos. His responsibilities included innovation management, technology and IT trend consulting, solution design, and architectural alignment of diverse activities. He was involved in pre-sales work and sales support across the Fürth, Munich, and Helsinki areas.

In February 2015, Scharinger returned to Siemens, where he took on the role of Director IT Audit in Iselin, New Jersey. For over three years, he led a team of IT auditors to support Siemens' transformation in key areas, including cybersecurity, IT general controls, IT service management, and data analysis support.

Since August 2018, Scharinger has been serving as Senior Innovation Manager and Technology Strategist in the CTO Office at Siemens in Nuremberg, Germany. In this role, he is responsible for innovation management, the development of technology strategies, and technology roadmaps. His expertise includes technology scouting, startups, quantum computing, industrial AI, scaling artificial intelligence, ecosystems, and the data economy.
