Summary

Buildit is the first hardware-focused accelerator in Northern and Eastern Europe. It takes in up to 10 teams at a time. The startups receive funding of maximum €20,000 per team and help with prototype development.

History

Buildit was set up in 2018. It offers: intensive acceleration program covering the most important topics, good network in the field of manufacturing in Baltic and Europe where they have strong cooperation with EIT, manufacturing investment starting from EUR 10'000 to 50'000 in the PreSeed stage, leading or joining the Seed round with investment up to EUR 250'000, contacts with Asian & European manufacturers and investors, optional participation in the follow-on program.

Goals and Purpose

Buildit focuses explicitly on providing extensive hardware-related support during the programme – the teams can use on-site prototyping facilities and testing platform, free office space and discounted services from partners to minimise development, design, testing, marketing, legal and financial costs.

Impact

Best-performing teams receive Pre-Seed investment in cash. According to the company: “as a Seed fund - if we see you have a great idea to offer, you need to look no further for an investor to lead the next round. The time and energy spent in the accelerator, developing relationships and demonstrating your team's gusto, may just literally pay off.”
