Cadence Design Systems was founded in 1988 by the merger of two Silicon Valley-based companies, SDA Systems and ECAD, Inc. In 2019, Cadence announced the acquisition of AWR Corporation, a provider of high-frequency design and simulation software. The same year, Cadence unveiled its latest product, the Xcelium Parallel Simulator, which is designed to accelerate simulation times for large and complex designs.

This acquisition further strengthened Cadence’s portfolio of EDA solutions and allowed the company to offer a comprehensive suite of tools for system-on-chip (SOC) design, verification, and implementation.
