Cai Felip

Cai is an influential figure in the Avatar and Metaverse ecosystems in Spain, being active in the web, crypto and tech scenes.

He is the CEO of Union Avatars, a digital identity platform for creating avatars in different styles, including the hyper-realistic avatars, for social media, virtual reality environments and games.

Prior to Union Avatars, Cai built the Crucial Agency to manage US artists worldwide. Cai also served as the CTO of WalkABit in 2018, a cashback app.

He is active in the web, crypto and tech scenes as well and participates in talks and symposiums. As a teacher at institutions like Universitat de Barcelona and business schools like ISDI or La Salle, Cai focuses on ensuring a deeper understanding of digital identity and avatar representation in the new immersive spaces.

Cai’s journey began at a young age with a passion for technology and innovation. From early endeavours in game development under his father's guidance to exploring hackerspaces in Barcelona, Cai demonstrated a natural aptitude for cutting-edge technologies. Despite initially pursuing engineering studies at university, Cai eventually opted to forge his own path in the tech industry, delving into a music and events management career.

With an entrepreneurial spirit ingrained in him, Cai founded two successful companies and immersed himself in the burgeoning crypto spaces as early as 2014. His keen interest in federated identity systems and emerging technologies laid the groundwork for his eventual transition into the metaverse realm. In 2019, Cai made a pivotal decision to leap into the metaverse with the creation of Linking Realities, which later evolved into Union Avatars.

Union Avatars was born out of Cai's foresight and belief in the transformative potential of the metaverse. Recognizing the need for users to manage and project their digital identities in this emerging landscape, Cai and his team embarked on a mission to develop an immersive platform where users could create and manage their virtual environments. Despite initial skepticism from investors and industry peers, Cai remained steadfast in his vision, foreseeing the metaverse as a reality years before it gained mainstream attention.

The turning point for Union Avatars came with the announcement of Facebook's rebranding to Meta, which catapulted the concept of the metaverse into the spotlight. Suddenly, what was once perceived as niche became a focal point of interest for investors and companies alike. With Union Avatars positioned at the forefront of this paradigm shift, Cai and his team found themselves inundated with inquiries and opportunities, validating their early vision and determination.

As the CEO of Union Avatars, Cai brings to the table a unique blend of technical expertise, entrepreneurial acumen, and a deep understanding of blockchain technology. Alongside his Co-Founder, Arman, who brings extensive experience in Computational Design and Lead Development, Cai is leading Union Avatars towards its mission of providing the tools and infrastructure needed to navigate and thrive in the metaverse.
