Malachowsky completed his schooling at Ocean Township High School in 1976. His interest in technology led him to pursue further education in electrical engineering. In 1983, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida. He later earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science from Santa Clara University in 1986, further sharpening his expertise in the field.

Before co-founding Nvidia, Malachowsky worked at Hewlett-Packard and Sun Microsystems. During his time at these companies, he held technical leadership positions that shaped his understanding of integrated circuit design and engineering. His experience in semiconductor technology and electrical engineering proved valuable as he transitioned into entrepreneurship.

In April 1993, Chris Malachowsky co-founded Nvidia alongside Curtis Priem and Jen-Hsun Huang.
