CRISIL was incorporated on 24 July 1987 and began operations as India's first professionally managed credit rating agency, with the establishment of CRISIL Limited. The company has since grown and diversified, branching out into research services, risk and policy advisory solutions, and analytics services. In October 2007, CRISIL went public, with the listing of its shares on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange.
