
Daido Metal Company was established in Osaka in 1916 as a steel fabricator for local commercial clients. In the late 1940s, the company began expanding into the production of specialty steel products for the Japanese defense industry. During the 1950s and 1960s, the company solidified its reputation as a leader in the steel industry by investing heavily in research and development and advancing its production capabilities. In the 1970s, Daido began diversifying its product portfolio and expanding its presence abroad, establishing subsidiaries in the United States and Europe. By the end of the century, Daido had become a major global supplier of stainless steel and various types of alloy and composite materials to the aerospace, automotive, machine building, and electronics industries.
