With Kora expanding across three continents, Dickson is pioneering payment technology in Africa by helping local and global businesses scale across the continent by providing online tools to accept payments, transfer across borders and convert between currencies.

Dickson created the African Founders Fund (AFF), an early-stage fund in Africa which is focussed on providing funding opportunities for African talents. Since its inception, Dickson has invested in over fifteen African startups with a combined valuation of $ 2 billion.

Biography

Born in Jos, Nigeria, in one of the most dynamic countries in Africa, he spent his academic days in getting a degree in Information Engineering at Covenant University. Moving forward afterwards to the prestigious Nankai University of China where he obtained his Masters in International Business.

It is precisely there, in China where he started his business career, creating Lixon mobile, a low cost mobile phone for the Chinese and African Markets.

Nsofor founded Kora, a blockchain-based platform that provides financial services to people who lack access to traditional banking services, in September 2017.

Prior to founding Kora, Nsofor was the CEO and IT Infrastructure Lead at LIXON Mobile from April 2015 to September 2016. He was responsible for driving business development and overseeing the company's IT infrastructure. From September 2013 to April 2015, Nsofor worked as a Business Development Manager at Globizme Shenzhen Electronics, where he played a key role in expanding the company's operations in Nigeria.

Nsofor is a highly educated individual, having earned a Master of Arts (MA) from Nankai University and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) from Covenant University. He is also a graduate of Techstars class 164 at Techstars, where he honed his skills in entrepreneurship.

Aside from his work in the private sector, Nsofor has also contributed to the development of blockchain technology through his work as a lecturer at INSEEC, where he taught a course on blockchain for finance and social good from 2017 to 2018. He also worked for the United Nations as an IT Process Engineer from 2016 to 2017.

With his extensive experience in technology and business development, Nsofor is a respected figure in the industry and a valuable contributor to the advancement of blockchain technology.

Vision

Dickson's vision is to develop a network to transfer money in the remotest regions of the world, including Nigeria from any part of the world. 

In his own words, Nsofor explains: 

“It was faster to drive cash to Ghana than to transfer money using a digital channel. And I thought to solve this problem.”

Using the blockchain, the Kora team have managed to find a better way of cutting down the time it takes to make settlements. 

Initially, Kora targeted people who were banked and lived in an underserved populace. He also aimed at including the unbanked people in Africa in Kora's services.
