Erald Ghoos began his career in the financial services sector after studying computer science at Katholieke Hogeschool Kempen and later undertaking business studies at VLEKHO Business School Brussels. He joined AXA Bank Europe in 2002 as a Process and Technology Engineer, where he worked on operational and technology initiatives within the banking sector. During his time at AXA, he progressed to Program Manager and contributed to banking expansion projects across several European countries, including Switzerland, Germany, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.
In 2010, Erald joined Equa Bank in the Czech Republic as Operations Program Manager before becoming Head of Process and Efficiency. His responsibilities focused on operational improvement and organisational efficiency within the bank's operations. In 2013, he briefly served as Senior Operations Program Manager at BNP Paribas in Brussels.
Later in 2013, Erlad joined Paysafe, where he held senior operational leadership roles. As Senior Operations Program Manager and subsequently Vice President of Operations, he oversaw functions including payments, fraud management, chargebacks, risk, onboarding, compliance, merchant underwriting, treasury, and customer operations. During this period, he managed large operational teams and worked across several international locations.
In 2016, Erald joined Funding Circle Deutschland as Head of Operations, where he was responsible for payments, customer onboarding, KYC, AML/CTF controls, customer support, and treasury functions. He later became Chief Operating Officer of Payreto GmbH, a company providing operational and compliance solutions for the financial industry. At Payreto, he led the company's operational development and expansion.
Erald entered the cryptocurrency industry in 2017 when he joined Crypto.com as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. Over nearly three years, he helped oversee the company's operational and compliance functions during a period of growth in the global digital asset sector.
In 2020, he joined Binance, where he held leadership responsibilities covering operations, compliance, growth, and licensing in Europe. His work focused on supporting the company's expansion and regulatory engagement across the region.
In 2023, Erald was appointed CEO of OKX Europe following the company's rebranding from Okcoin Europe to OKX. Based in Malta, he leads the company's European business and serves as one of its principal representatives in the region. His responsibilities include overseeing regulatory strategy, market expansion, product localisation, and engagement with European authorities. Under his leadership, OKX has expanded its European presence and strengthened its regulatory position, including operating under licensing frameworks in Malta and the wider European Union.
