Fil'm Memory's vision is to become the most distinctive social platform that aims to increase the value given to cinema in Turkey. The community values fun, independence, sharing, innovation, and investigation. They have achieved several milestones, including launching their website in 2011, opening a t-shirt store for cinephiles in 2011, becoming the social media sponsor of !f Istanbul in 2012, organizing their first Elephant @9 event in 2012, and introducing short films to large audiences in movie theatres in 2013.

History

Fil'm Hafizasi, which translates to "Film Memory" in English, is a community of cinephiles in Turkey who aim to promote and celebrate independent and underappreciated films. The community was founded in 2011 by a group of friends who shared a passion for cinema.

It all started as a small Facebook group where members could share their thoughts and recommendations on different films, as well as discuss various aspects of filmmaking. The group quickly gained popularity, attracting cinephiles from all over Turkey who were interested in discovering new and alternative films that were not often screened in mainstream cinemas.

As the group grew, the founders decided to expand their activities and create a more formal platform that could reach a wider audience. In July 2011, they launched the Fil'm Hafizasi website, which served as a hub for film reviews, recommendations, and event announcements.

In August 2011, Fil'm Hafizasi opened a t-shirt store for cinephiles called Basmatik, which became a popular destination for film lovers who wanted to show off their love for independent cinema.

In February 2012, the community became the social media sponsor of !f Istanbul, a popular international film festival that showcases independent films from around the world. This partnership allowed Fil'm Hafizasi to expand its reach and connect with a wider audience of film enthusiasts.

In June 2012, Fil'm Hafizasi organized its first Elephant @9 event at Küçük Beyo?lu Terrace. The event was designed to bring together film lovers in a relaxed and informal setting, where they could watch and discuss different films over a cup of tea or coffee.

In February 2013, the community became the social media sponsor of alldesign Istanbul and prepared the questions for the Darren Aronofsky section. This partnership allowed Fil'm Hafizasi to collaborate with other art and culture events and promote the relationship between cinema and other branches of art.

In June 2013, Fil'm Hafizasi organized its first Thematic Night event, hosted by Can Evrenol. The event focused on a specific theme, such as horror or science fiction, and featured a selection of films and discussions related to that theme.

In November 2013, Fil'm Hafizasi introduced short films to large audiences in movie theatres as part of the project titled Ba?ka Sinema with Ba?ka Çar?amba. The project aimed to promote short films and give them a platform to be seen and appreciated by a wider audience.

In April 2014, as part of the 33rd International Istanbul Film Festival, Fil'm Hafizasi organized the Midnight Madness Party and Short Film Night together with ?stanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (?KSV). The event featured a selection of short films and a party where cinephiles could socialize and have fun.

In May 2015, Fil'm Hafizasi started its Belong Party Series event, which was based on cult films. The event featured screenings of popular cult films, as well as discussions and debates on various aspects of cult cinema.

In January 2016, Fil'm Hafizasi introduced its first printed magazine, FH Mag, to moviegoers. The magazine featured movie analysis, criticism, and special file topics related to different aspects of cinema.

Today, Fil'm Hafizasi continues to be a thriving community of cinephiles in Turkey, promoting independent and alternative cinema, and creating new and innovative events and platforms for film lovers to connect and share their passion for cinema.
