The GMR Group was founded by Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao in 1978. Initially, the company was involved in agricultural development activities in southern India. GMR Group later diversified its operations to include development of roads, expressways, and industrial projects like power plants, airports, and urban infrastructure projects. The company has a wide presence throughout India and has spread its wings across the Middle East, South East Asia and South Asia.
