The company was founded in 1999 as a partnership under the name Godawari Ispat Private Limited by Sh. C.L. Gupta, a first-generation entrepreneur. He was actively joined by Sh.Manoj Gupta in the same year who is today a whole-time director in the company. In the year 2005, it became an associate entity of the three-decade old Shree Ispat Ltd which later got merged with GPIL in the year 2007.
