Summary
History
Gordmans was founded in 1915, by Jake Gordman and his son Sam. The first store opened in downtown Omaha, Nebraska, and the business was focused on the sale of apparel. By the 1950s the business had grown to over 60 stores across America and Canada. After the death of Sam Gordman, his son Bernard became the president, and changed the company’s focus to off-price apparel and products. In 2006, Gordmans received a leveraged buyout and the company went public in 2010. In 2014, Sun Capital Partners acquired the brand in a take-privateransaction.
