Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited engages in the exploration, extraction, and processing of gold. The company also explores for uranium, silver, copper, and molybdenum deposits. It has eight underground operations in the Witwatersrand Basin; an open-pit mine on the Kraaipan Greenstone Belt; and various surface source operations in South Africa. History

Harmony Gold was founded in 1950 and has since become a leading gold producer. From 1989 to 2005, Harmony was a wholly owned subsidiary of the South African gold mining company, Gold Fields. Following a management buyout, Harmony Gold was founded as a listed entity in 2005. The company's core focus is to explore, mine and process gold.
