Haseeb Qureshi

Haseeb Qureshi is the Managing Partner at Dragonfly, a global cryptocurrency investment firm. He has had a diverse career, moving from professional poker to technology, software engineering, and blockchain investment. At 16, he began playing online poker with a $50 bankroll, quickly turning it into $100,000 in a year. By 19, Haseeb was one of the top heads-up no-limit Hold'em players in the world and a self-made millionaire. However, by 21, he permanently retired from poker and donated half a million dollars he had earned from the game.
 

Haseeb shifted his focus to technology and software engineering, joining a coding bootcamp and later becoming Director of Product at App Academy. He then worked as a software engineer at Airbnb, focusing on fraud prevention, before transitioning to blockchain technology in 2017. His first crypto project involved publishing a security vulnerability in a DeFi protocol, which earned him credibility in the space. Haseeb also worked at Earn.com, which was later acquired by Coinbase.
 

Haseeb was a General Partner at MetaStable Capital, a crypto-focused venture fund. He later co-founded Dragonfly with Bo Feng, aiming to bring a global perspective to crypto investment. In 2010, he was ranked as one of the top 10 heads-up pot-limit Omaha players in the world. His poker career was supported by a sponsorship deal with Full Tilt Poker, where he was a “Full Tilt Red Pro” from 2009 to 2011. Haseeb’s understanding of strategy, psychology, and the philosophy behind poker made him a sought-after figure in the industry. 
 

He co-founded and managed SFCF, a poker firm that backed 20 players with profit-sharing agreements, generating over $200,000 in profits. Additionally, he co-managed contracts for professional poker players and worked as a business manager, representing players in dealings with lawyers and financial ventures.

During his poker career, Haseeb became a prominent educator as well. He produced a series of popular poker strategy analysis videos for DeucesCracked and CardRunners, and he privately coached many top-tier players worldwide. 

His book, How to Be a Poker Player: The Philosophy of Poker, was published in December 2013 and became the #1 best-selling poker book on Amazon for around five months. The book explores the strategies and philosophies that separate amateur players from world-class professionals.
 

Haseeb’s transition from poker to technology came in the mid-2010s, where he pivoted to roles in web development and tech education. In 2015, he joined App Academy, a prestigious coding bootcamp, as a student before being invited to join the teaching staff after only two months. There, he instructed over 200 students across multiple cohorts and also contributed significantly to the company’s curriculum, preparing and delivering lectures on web development topics such as object-oriented programming, authentication patterns, and data structures.

As Director of Product, Haseeb was integral to the company’s growth, overseeing several major projects, including a complete redesign of App Academy’s website and the development of a web app for administering student quizzes. Haseeb also helped source partnerships, such as a collaboration with UC Berkeley and a React training deal with Udacity, which resulted in over $400,000 in revenue through student acquisition.
