HEICO Corporation operates in two segments, the Flight Support group and the Electronic Technologies group. The Flight Support group designs, engineers, manufactures, repairs, distributes and overhauls FAA-approved parts that extend over the entire aircraft, from the engines all the way to hydraulic, pneumatic, electromechanical, avionic, structures, wheels and brakes and even interiors. The Electronic Technologies group produces electrical and electro-optical systems and components serving niche segments of the aerospace, defence, communications, and computer industries. The Electronic Technologies group is a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and sale of electrically and electro-optical engineered products used in the aerospace, defence, space, and electronics industries. By combining state-of-the-art technologies, a team of highly skilled Team Members and an indisputable commitment to quality, both segments have constantly delivered invaluable solutions to customers over the years, helping to position them as leaders within their industries.

History

1957: HEICO was founded as Heinicke Instruments Co.

1974: Heinicke entered the aviation business with its purchase of Jet Avion, which manufactured jet engine parts.

1986: Earnings were $7.6 million on sales of $46 million. The company changed its name from Heinicke Instruments Co. to HEICO Corporation.

1987: Earnings rose to $7.6 million in the fiscal year ending October 31st.

1989: The Mendelson group offered $42 million ($21 per share) for the rest of the company.

1990: When the Mendelson's took over the Hollywood, Florida-based business, Heico generated a total return of some 47,500%. (No, that’s not a typo.)

1992: In September, Herbert Wertheim of Coral Gables, Florida, raised his stake in the company to 10.2 percent and requested two board seats.

1997: HEICO offered $276 million for Figgie International, which made respirators, but was unsuccessful.

1998: HEICO's Flight Support Group accounted for 73 percent of revenues; Ground Support, the remainder.

1999: Sales were up 43 percent and the company posted record profits in the first quarter of the fiscal year.

2019: The Mendelson's are shrewd buyers themselves, having completed seven more acquisitions.

2020: Connect Tech Inc. announced its acquisition by HEICO Corporation on 18 August.
