IDEC Corporation was founded in 1972 as a joint venture between IDEC Corporation in Japan and Stoneway Electric Corporation in the United States. In 1976, Stoneway was acquired by IDEC and the company moved to Santa Clara, California. Since then, IDEC Corporation has grown and expanded its operations, with offices and subsidiaries in countries around the world, including Japan, Europe, China, India and Korea.
