IMPAL was founded in Delhi in 1952 and has rapidly expanded its operations over the years. Initially, the company's focus was on importing and selling automotive parts, accessories and components of international brands to Indian and neighboring markets. In the 1970s, the company started manufacturing its own engine oil, followed by new product lines including fuel and lubricants, bearing, axles and clutch parts, electrical accessory and other consumables for automotive. By the 1990s, IMPAL had grown to become a leading and reliable source for a wide range of automotive products in India.
