K92 Mining

K92 Mining Inc. engages in the mining, exploration, and development of mineral deposits in Papua New Guinea. The company produces gold, copper, and silver. Its principal property is the Kainantu property that covers an area of 862 square kilometers located in the Eastern Highlands province of Papua New Guinea. The company is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada.


The Kainantu Gold Mine was discovered in 1902 and intermittently mined until the Second World War. After the war, the mine operated as a central government enterprise for a period before being taken over by Placer Dome in 1998. In August 2006, the mine was sold to Highlands Pacific and Independence Group NL. In March 2016, K92 Mining acquired the mine from Highlands Pacific and IGO.

The mission of K92 Mining is to become a mid-tier gold producer with operations in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, operating ethically, responsibly and sustainably to create value for all stakeholders.
