Summary
History
The Kainantu Gold Mine was discovered in 1902 and intermittently mined until the Second World War. After the war, the mine operated as a central government enterprise for a period before being taken over by Placer Dome in 1998. In August 2006, the mine was sold to Highlands Pacific and Independence Group NL. In March 2016, K92 Mining acquired the mine from Highlands Pacific and IGO.
