History
KapStone Paper and Packaging Corporation was founded in 2005 when four experienced paper mill and packaging industry executives purchased KapStone’s Northbrook, Illinois based parent, U.S. Box, from Hodge Industries. In July of 2007, KapStone purchased Longview Fiber, a former Weyerhaeuser company, for $1.2 billion. The acquisition provided considerable infrastructure to KapStone, including five containerboard mills, a recycled linerboard mill, fourteen paper converting facilities, four kraft paper mills, and thirty lumber and plywood mills.
