It operated 502 Home center Kohnan stores primarily in the Kinki area. The company was incorporated in 1978 and is headquartered in Osaka, Japan.
History

The company was founded in 1921 and the roots of the Kohnan Shoji can be traced back to the commodity sales division of the Osaka Shosen Kaisha shipping company. The company itself was officially established in 1921, when it opened its first store in central Osaka. Since then, it has become one of the largest department store chains in Japan, with stores all over the country. Kohnan Shoji also has an active web presence, as well as its own magazine, web shop and mail order site.
