L-1 Identity Solutions was founded in 1998 by Bob Carver and Chuck Williams. The company has grown from a small Florida-based start-up to a publicly traded company. In 2007, L-1 was acquired by technology conglomerate Safran. In 2010, the company acquired Viisage Technology and its U.S. Passports business, combining it with its own Identity Solutions business.
