Originally founded in Chicago, Illinois, as a mail order catalog business in 1963 by Gary Comer, Lands’ End expanded its presence to retail stores during the 1990s and was listed as a publicly traded company from 1992 to 2014, when it underwent a private equity buyout and was acquired again in 2018.
