Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), established in 1953, is a premier self-financing institution recognised as an Institution of Eminence by the Indian government. Located in Karnataka's Udupi district, MAHE has a diverse student body of over 30,000 students from more than 60 countries. The university offers a wide range of programmes in health sciences, engineering, management, communication, humanities, liberal arts, and social sciences. MAHE has additional campuses in Mangalore, Bengaluru, Jamshedpur, and Dubai. 

Renowned for its academic excellence, MAHE features state-of-the-art facilities and strong international collaborations. It was ranked 801–1000 in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings of 2023, 351–400 in Asia in 2022, and 301–350 among emerging economies. In India, MAHE has been accredited by NAAC with an A++ Grade, and the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked it 16th overall and 6th among universities in 2023.

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) was founded in 1953 by T. M. A. Pai, who established India's first self-financing medical college, Kasturba Medical College, as a pioneering public-private collaboration. This initial venture marked the beginning of MAHE's growth into a comprehensive educational institution. Over the years, MAHE expanded by adding various institutions, eventually forming a cohesive group. In June 1993, the Government of India recognised this group as a deemed university, granting it autonomy and a new organisational structure.

MAHE continued to build its reputation for academic excellence and innovation. It introduced diverse programmes across health sciences, engineering, management, communication, humanities, liberal arts, and social sciences. The university's infrastructure and research contributions were consistently upgraded to reflect the latest trends and developments in higher education.

In October 2020, MAHE was designated as an Institution of Eminence by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, in recognition of its outstanding achievements in academics, infrastructure, and research. This status underscored MAHE's standing in national and international rankings, highlighting its commitment to providing world-class education.

Today, MAHE has a vibrant student community of over 30,000 from more than 60 countries, supported by nearly 3,000 faculty members and 10,000 support staff. The university's main campus is located in Manipal, Karnataka, with additional campuses in Mangalore, Bengaluru, and Jamshedpur India, and an offshore campus in Dubai. With its emphasis on holistic development, international collaborations, and cutting-edge facilities, MAHE continues to be a leader in higher education.
