Summary
Martin Moeller is the business and strategy leader with over a decade's experience of working in cutting edge technologies and applied AI. He has been building and scaling businesses in the consumer as well as enterprise space, driving market making for innovations and creating customer centric growth operations.
Currently, as Director of Cloud & AI for Financial Services in Western Europe at Microsoft Martin drives the exponential growth strategy of the company. In this role, he spearheads the evolution of business operations, thereby shaping the strategic partnerships with customers. He oversees the modernisation and transformation of client business, enabled by advanced cloud technologies, artificial intelligence and Microsoft’s global FinTech ecosystem.
Prior to this, Martin has worked in banking and wealth management at Credit Suisse in different business leadership as well as global strategy and corporate development roles, driving market making, business transformation and digitalisation.
Martin also mentors several fintech startups and is a member of Black Swan Appreciation Society. He did BA in Economics and Political Science from The University of Manchester and MS in International Relations from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
Biography
Martin's journey begins with his academic pursuits, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from The University of Manchester in 2011, followed by a Master of Science in International Relations from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2012.
After completing his education, Martin delved into the corporate landscape, joining Credit Suisse in 2012. Over a span of four years, from 2012 to 2016, he assumed the role of Corporate Strategy Manager for Retail Banking & Wealth Management. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in reorienting the bank following the financial crisis, contributing to the development of new segment and market strategies. Martin also spearheaded front-to-back efficiency initiatives and reshaped internal and external CxO strategy communication during this transformative period.
Continuing his journey within Credit Suisse, Martin transitioned to the position of Business Development Manager for Private Banking Premium Clients in November 2013. In this role, he successfully drove market development for the Private Banking business, focusing on capturing new growth opportunities. Martin also led the development of new business offerings tailored for next-generation Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals and global Family Offices, delivering tangible results in margin increase and enhanced Net New Asset growth.
In March 2014, Martin embraced the role of Digital Strategy Lead for Retail Banking & Wealth Management within Credit Suisse, where he played a crucial role in enabling the bank's digital catch-up. Over a three-year period, he formulated and executed strategies for channel, product, and process innovation, adopting artificial intelligence across the bank. Noteworthy achievements during this tenure include the delivery of award-winning multi-channel offerings, including Credit Suisse's first digital banking app, AI-based Next-Best-Action tools, and a new globally scalable Banking Platform for over 2 million clients.
In 2017, Martin took on the role of Digital Transformation Principal & Go-To-Market Lead for Financial Services, Western Europe at Microsoft. Over the course of two years, he was instrumental in driving market making for Microsoft's new cloud offering for Financial Services transformation. Martin architected a flywheel growth strategy that delivered exponential business growth, securing lighthouse partnerships with key banks and insurers.
Building on this success, Martin assumed the position of Director Cloud & AI and Head of Growth for Financial Services, Western Europe at Microsoft in July 2019. Over four years, he led the development of new business offerings and go-to-market strategies, with a special focus on FinTech collaborations and emerging technologies such as AI & Machine Learning, Blockchain/Web3, and Quantum Computing. Martin played a pivotal role in shaping an efficient, customer-centric, and data-driven operating model to optimally enable growth and enhance speed to market.
In his current role as Director Artificial Intelligence & Generative AI for Financial Services, EMEA at Microsoft, which he assumed in July 2023, Martin is partnering with leading banks and insurers to embed artificial intelligence and generative AI responsibly and scalably into their organizations. He continues to lead the AI & GenAI go-to-market strategy and drive the development of artificial intelligence business offerings for the financial services sector, collaborating with AI and FinTech start-ups. Martin's skills include expertise in Generative AI, business transformation, go-to-market strategy, artificial intelligence, cross-functional team leadership, and digital strategy. Through his multifaceted career, Martin Moeller has consistently demonstrated a keen understanding of industry trends, a flair for innovation, and a strategic vision that has positively impacted the organizations he has been a part of.
