Meade Instruments was founded in 1972 by John Diebel, who had a vision of bringing the world of astronomy to the public. Meade products have evolved from a simple 8-inch reflector telescope to some of the most sophisticated astronomical instruments available today. Meade's achievements include engineering the world's first Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope with built-in GoTo technology, the world's first autoguider for astrophotography, and many other innovations.
