
Morinaga Milk Industry Co., Ltd. was founded in Sangenjaya, Tokyo on April 18, 1899. The company was founded by Yozo Morinaga, who had previously manufactured soy sauce, pickles, and miso soup. The company quickly established itself as one of the leading fresh milk producers in Japan and is credited with pioneering pasteurised milk production in the country. The company's iconic condensing factory in Yodobashi, Tokyo was completed in 1936 and is still in operation today. Having grown its presence in Japan, the company expanded overseas in the 1950s and 60s, setting up operations in Thailand, China, and other countries in the region. In 2018, Morinaga acquired a stake in Watanabe Dairy Products, a leading dairy producer in Thailand, further strengthening its presence in the region.
