Mukund Jha

Mukund Jha is an accomplished entrepreneur and technology leader based in San Francisco, California. He is currently the CEO and Co-Founder of Emergent, a company focused on innovative tech solutions. Mukund has a diverse background in technology, having previously co-founded Dunzo, a well-known task management platform, where he served as CTO. 

Before that, he co-founded Wisdom.ly, a platform for group video meetups and conferences, which participated in the Princeton Tigerlabs accelerator. He also co-founded Habet, a goal-tracking platform that incentivised users with cash rewards to accomplish their objectives.
 

Mukund's career started with significant experience at Google, where he worked in the Search Quality team. He also gained academic experience as a graduate student at Columbia University in Computer Science, focusing on machine learning, social network mining, and natural language processing. His research at Columbia included work on speech recognition and advanced programming. Mukund has also completed internships at prestigious institutions like IIT Madras and Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, further enhancing his technical expertise.

Mukund has made several investments in the tech space, with notable investments including Pillow (Series A, $18M), Deciml (Pre-seed, $1M), and GoPaani (Seed round, $600K). Mukund holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Columbia Engineering and a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology. His entrepreneurial spirit and strong technical background have made him a key player in the tech industry.

Mukund Jha was born in India and pursued his education in technology from an early age. He completed his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology in 2009. After completing his undergraduate degree, he moved to the United States to further his studies and earned a Master's degree in Computer Science from Columbia University in 2010. 

During his time at Columbia, Mukund worked on machine learning, social network mining, and natural language processing. He also contributed as a research assistant on projects focused on speech recognition, NLP, and data structures in Java.

In 2010, Mukund began his professional career with an internship at Google in Mountain View, California, where he worked as a Software Engineering Intern. Following this, he joined Google’s Search Quality team in 2011, where he focused on improving the quality of search results. Mukund worked at Google until 2013, gaining valuable experience in the tech industry.
 

In 2013, Mukund co-founded Wisdom.ly, a platform for group video meetups and conferences aimed at connecting people with shared interests. Wisdom.ly was a portfolio company of Princeton’s Tigerlabs accelerator and participated in Startup Chile’s Program. However, Mukund soon transitioned to other ventures, co-founding Habet in 2014. Habet was an intelligent goal-tracking platform designed to help users achieve their objectives with expert guidance, accountability, and financial incentives. Despite its brief run, Habet provided valuable insights into user engagement and goal-setting.

In 2015, Mukund co-founded Dunzo, a task management and logistics platform that allows users to get daily tasks done easily. Serving as the CTO of the company, Mukund helped shape the platform’s technical strategy and growth. Dunzo became widely popular in India, serving millions of users across multiple cities. Mukund remained at Dunzo until 2023, when he transitioned out of his role as the company scaled and matured.

In 2024, Mukund launched Emergent, a technology company focusing on innovative solutions. As the CEO and Co-Founder, Mukund is leading efforts in advancing new technologies, particularly in areas related to AI, digital services, and platform-based solutions.

Mukund is also an active investor, having made investments in multiple tech startups. His notable investments include Pillow, a company that raised $18 million in Series A funding, Deciml (a pre-seed company that raised $1 million), and GoPaani, which raised $600K in seed funding. Mukund's investments reflect his commitment to supporting innovative startups in the digital space.
