NetLink NBN Trust owns, designs, builds, and operates the passive fibre network infrastructure for residential homes and non-residential premises, and non-building address point (NBAP) connections in mainland Singapore and its connected islands. Its passive fibre network infrastructure includes ducts, manholes, fibre cables, and central offices. As of March 31, 2022, it had an approximately 1,464,217 residential; 50,278 non-residential; and 2,404 NBAP end-user connections. The company was incorporated in 2017 and is based in Singapore.
History

2008: OpenNet, a consortium comprising Axia NetMedia Corporation, Singtel, Singapore Press Holdings and SP Tel, is selected as the Network Company to design, build and operate the passive infrastructure for the Next Gen NBN.

2009: OpenNet is issued a Facilities-Based Operator Licence for it to commence the roll-out of the Next Gen NBN.

2010: OpenNet begins rolling out optical fibre to homes, offices and buildings in Singapore.

2011: Singtel establishes NetLink Trust as part of the commitments made by the OpenNet consortium, and appoints CityNet Infrastructure Management Pte Ltd to carry out the business of establishing, installing, operating and maintaining the assets transferred from SingTel to support the operations of OpenNet.

2012: High-speed fibre coverage rolled out to 95% of all residential homes and non-residential premises in Singapore.

2013: Nationwide coverage for Next Gen NBN achieved; OpenNet is fully acquired by CityNet, which will act as a neutral, independent Trustee-Manager for NetLink Trust.

2014: The integration of the Next Gen NBN fibre infrastructure into NetLink Trust is completed.
