This interest grew, leading him to pursue a career in IT and communications, where he later focused on computer security and forensics. His education laid the foundation for a career spanning over three decades, with 20 years specifically dedicated to computer forensics and cybersecurity.

In 2004, Furneaux founded CSITech, a computer forensics company that worked with corporations, law enforcement agencies, and other entities, providing forensic investigation, consulting, and training services. Over the next 18 years, he gained expertise in investigating high-profile cases involving fraud, murder, assault, terrorism, and child protection. Alongside CSITech, he also served as Director of Bright Forensics from 2008 to 2015, a company focused on providing forensic investigation software to corporations and law enforcement.

Nick is also well-known for his teaching and consulting work with organisations around the world.
