In addition, it provides supply chain management services. The company was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Hangzhou, China. Nongfu Spring Co., Ltd. operates as a subsidiary of Yangshengtang Co., Ltd.

History

Nongfu Spring was founded in 1996 in Hangzhou by its current Chairman, Zhong Shanshan. Originally specializing in bottled water production, its product line has since expanded to include tea drinks and beverages, as well as functional and other health drinks. In 2010, Nongfu Spring achieved certification from the China PSB for its high-quality water sources and advanced water purification techniques. In 2012, Nongfu Spring began to expand its presence nationally, opening new production bases in Zhejiang and New Capital in Beijing. With its increasing number of production bases, Nongfu Spring was able to increase its production capacity and meet its growing demand. In 2014, the company launched a new product range called “Nongfu Darling” which focusses on producing natural, healthy and lower sugar beverages for children. In 2017, Nongfu Spring launched its online store, WeChat Mall, becoming the first bottled-water manufacturer in China to enter the online retail space. The company also established research and development centers in Hangzhou, Henan, Guangdong and Shanxi and expanded its production network to 24 provinces and cities. In 2019, Nongfu Spring debuted on the Hong Kong Exchange and became the world’s most valuable beverage company, the first beverage company to exceed $100 billion in market capitalization. Nongfu Spring is currently expanding its retail network, having built offices and production bases in various regions.
