Oasis was founded in 2007 by Taylor and Tommy Ahmad, two petroleum engineers from the University of Pittsburgh. The two brothers had $10 million of invested capital from their family and contacts and set out to acquire unconventional oil and natural gas resources in the Fort Worth Basin area of Texas. Since its founding, Oasis has accumulated approximately 523,400 net acres of leasehold and has grown its production to an average of 60,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
