Summary
History
Giro Ogura first opened a machine shop in Osaka in 1927. His first production line was a rattan-interlaced clutch. Inspired by the success of his clutches, Ogura opened his own company at a plant in Osaka’s Shibata district in 1929. In the 1930s, Ogura expanded their production building its own manufacturing facilities, research lab, and testing areas. Ogura introduced the world’s first automatic clutch in 1952 and the first electrical-powered clutch in 1976. With a commitment to quality and innovation, Ogura has since continually introduced new products, rapidly expanded internationally and acquired many international companies like Huco, GVM, and Shoei Machinery, Inc. Today, Ogura Clutch Company is the world’s leading manufacturer of clutches and rolling clutches.
