Ohara was founded in 1945 in Kumamoto, Japan, by its then CEO, Dr. Shigeru Ohara. The company has grown steadily since its inception and has become one of the leading companies in the consumer electronics industry in Japan. Ohara has a long and successful history of developing and producing high-end optical components for the consumer electronics industry. Ohara has also developed and manufactured optical components used in many of the leading consumer electronics products, such as DVD players, CD players, and digital cameras.
