History

Pacira BioSciences, Inc., formerly known as 21st Century BioPharmaceuticals, Inc., was founded in 2006 by Joseph W. Dong, PhD in Summit, New Jersey. In 2010, the company changed its name to Pacira BioSciences, Inc., and launched its first product, EXPAREL, a long-acting local anesthetic. Since then, Pacira has become a leader in the field of pharmaceuticals and has received several awards for its products.
