Summary
Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) is a leading Sharia-compliant financial institution in Palestine, with a network of branches spanning the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Established in 1977, it is considered to be the first Islamic bank in Palestine, and is one of the leading banks in the country. PIB is well-capitalized, having been consistently ranked as one of the most profitable and stable banks in Palestine.
History

Palestine Islamic Bank (PIB) was the first Islamic financial institution founded in the West Bank and Gaza Strip in 1977. The idea of establishing a Sharia-compliant bank was prompted by the dissatisfaction of local citizens with the more conventional banking landscape. The Bank received its charter from the Central Bank of Palestine (CBP), which set the standards for the financial, technical, legal and capital requirements needed for operation. Over the course of its growth, PIB has become the market leader in Islamic banking in Palestine.
