Petronet LNG Limited engages in the import, regasification, and supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in India. It owns and operates a LNG import and regasification terminal with name plate capacity of 17.5 MMTPA located in Dahej, Gujarat; and a LNG terminal with name plate capacity of 5 MMTPA located in Kochi, Kerala. The company was incorporated in 1998 and is based in New Delhi, India.
History

Petronet LNG was founded in 1998 by four oil and gas companies – Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation and Gas Authority of India. These companies tasked Petronet LNG with building and operating terminals to import, store and distribute Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in India. The company’s first terminal at Dahej in Gujarat was commissioned in 2004, and is now one of the largest LNG terminals in the world. Petronet LNG also operates terminals at Kochi, Kerala and Hazira, Maharashtra.
