History

Petronet LNG was founded in 1998 by four oil and gas companies – Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation and Gas Authority of India. These companies tasked Petronet LNG with building and operating terminals to import, store and distribute Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in India. The company’s first terminal at Dahej in Gujarat was commissioned in 2004, and is now one of the largest LNG terminals in the world. Petronet LNG also operates terminals at Kochi, Kerala and Hazira, Maharashtra.
