The firm was founded in 1995 by Rich Pzena and Lisa Rapuano. After working together at Sanford Bernstein, Rich and Lisa identified a need in the investment management industry for a firm that adhered to a disciplined bottom-up research process dedicated to delivering long-term value for clients. Pzena’s portfolio management team was soon augmented with the addition of Steve Walsh – the three lead portfolio managers and founders remain with the firm to this day.
