History

Translate Bio was founded in 2009 by Jeffrey E. Lux, PhD and J. Keith Joung, MD, PhD. Both were established researchers in the field of genetics and mRNA therapy. Lux and Joung wanted to develop mRNA therapies that change the way diseases are treated. In 2017, the company went public, offering more than $70 million in stock. Today, the company is ramping up research and development of its therapies and has several drug candidates in preclinical and clinical development.
