Summary

Randa Al Rifai is the founder and current president of the Lebanese Association for Digital Transformation (LADT), the first Lebanese NGO in the field of digital transformation. 

She is also a community leader at the Lebanese Community of Bitcoin & Blockchain Beirut (BBB), and the Ambassador for the Institute for the Future (IFF) at the University of Nicosia, Lebanon Chapter.

In her current capacity, she serves as a mentor and consultant to interested audiences on the topic of Blockchain and Cryptocurrency within the Lebanese ecosystem through regular meetups at Beirut Digital District and online (Audience range from Company owners, Startup builders, Business Leaders, Community managers, and others). Adding to that, she delivered the first Blockchain and Digital Currency University course and is a regular public speaker on the topic.

She has been developing and delivering blockchain academic content and hands-on workshops, as well as providing consultancy and advisory on Blockchain business models with a focus on digital assets and blockchain-as-a-service, NFTs and Web 3.0.

Randa is a public speaker advocating for women in technology and acts as an ambassador for projects and initiatives that promotes positive social impact through the utilization of emerging technologies.

Randa has been recognised among the top 12 leaders to guide and lead the future of blockchain technology in the Middle East.

Randa holds a master’s degree in science of Blockchain and Digital Currency from University of Nicosia, in addition to several other blockchain technology certifications, as well as specialised banking and finance degrees.

Biography

Randa Al Rifai has had a diverse and dynamic career, starting with her role as a Customer Support Unit Head at MedSecurities Investment SAL, a subsidiary of Bankmed Group SAL. She worked in this position from June 2016 to October 2018, where she managed clients' queries and complaints while providing accurate and comprehensive information about the company's products and services.

After her time at MedSecurities, Randa transitioned into the field of blockchain and digital transformation. She worked as an Academic Instructor at the Middle East University, where she prepared and delivered the first Blockchain and Digital Currency course to Master's degree students in the Faculty of Business. Her topics of instruction included cryptocurrency, the cryptocurrency market, blockchain fundamentals, and more. This experience allowed her to share her knowledge and passion for emerging technologies with students.

Randa also held positions in advisory roles and business development within the blockchain industry. She worked as a Business Development Advisor for TYKN B.V., a platform that enables organizations to issue tamper-proof digital credentials. In this role, she provided advisory support for the development of the startup's mission in the MENA region, conducted research to support the company's objectives, and represented the startup's vision in Lebanon and at various hackathons.

Furthermore, Randa has been actively involved in various freelance and freelance contract positions related to blockchain and emerging technologies. She served as a Dubai Chapter Lead for the Government Blockchain Association, a Freelance Ambassador for WiBT Women in Blockchain Talks, and an Ambassador for the Institute For the Future (IFF) at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus. In these roles, she represented and promoted these organizations, participated in conferences and events, and contributed to advancing emerging technologies and their application in different sectors.

Additionally, Randa has worked as a Legal Compliance Senior Officer in the Foreign Regulations and Data Protection Team at BankMed, where she developed and implemented policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements. She monitored business processes for compliance risks, built awareness on data protection, and provided training to staff on data privacy.

Throughout her career, Randa has also been involved in consulting and teaching roles. She has worked as an Independent Consultant and Independent Advisor, providing her expertise in subjects such as business development and project management. She has also worked as a Course Instructor at FNF MENA, where she prepared and delivered a full Crypto program for students.

Randa's passion for the blockchain industry is evident in her involvement as a Blockchain Consultant for SOFTin Space 2023, where she has contributed her expertise in business development. She has also served as an Advisory Board Member for the Arab EmTech & Startups Conference, a platform that focuses on discussing emerging technologies and their impact on businesses and society.

Published Work

Randa Al Rifai has shared her thoughts on the potential of blockchain technology in various areas. In a publication from March 2018 titled "When Blockchain Aids KYC," she discussed how blockchain can assist banks in verifying customer identities and tracking relevant information for Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures. She has also provided insights on the compliance aspects of cryptocurrencies in a publication from March 2018 titled "Compliance Relation with Cryptocurrencies."

Randa's involvement and knowledge in the cryptocurrency space have been acknowledged beyond publications. An article in the Daily Star from September 2017 titled "Bitcoins Make Landfall Even in Lebanon" highlighted her expertise and discussed the growing presence of cryptocurrencies in Lebanon.

Vision

With her dynamic, inspirational character, her core focus has been in developing and delivering blockchain academic content and hands-on workshops, as well as providing consultancy and advisory on Blockchain business models with a focus on digital assets and blockchain-as-a-service, NFTs and Web 3.0.

Randa has been working to create synergies between what new technologies have to offer and how different mindsets determine the potentials and demonstrate action. She has participated in several media talks, social media platforms and tv channels, interviewed by newspapers and spoke at conferences and events.

In an article published by Scene Arabia in August 2018, she was featured as one of the "5 Middle Eastern Entrepreneurs Working with Blockchain to Transform the Future." Randa Al Rifai has actively participated in industry events and conferences, sharing her knowledge and insights with a wider audience. She presented at the World Blockchain Forum in Dubai, as highlighted in a publication by Tykn.tech in April 2018.
