Summary

The Red Children Association is a non-governmental organization founded in 2018 by Turkish Fashion Designer Simay Bülbül Saripinar. Its main objective is to ensure that children under protection grow up as physically, educationally, psycho-socially healthy individuals in a family environment and acquire good habits to prepare them for life. The association has set out to increase awareness of foster families in society, mentor young people over the age of 18 who are out of state protection and carry out project activities that contribute to the development of children in kindergarten.

The association works with the vision of ensuring that children and young people have a loving future. To this end, it develops various projects to support children's education, work, internships, and scholarships. The core values of the organization are to be useful to humanity, transparent and accountable, and a supra-political organization.

The Red Children Association works to support children in various areas, including those in orphanages and under protection, those with financial disabilities for education, those in prison, those at risk who need protection, those with mental and physical disabilities, abused children, children with health problems for whom organ donation and treatment are costly, and street children.

The association also runs various projects to address the needs of different age groups, including young people over the age of 18 studying at universities, children between the ages of 6 and 18 living in the house of love, and children aged 3-12 living in kindergartens. One of its most valuable projects is the "Science and Design Center," which aims to introduce children to science and art at an early age and to realize their talents.

History

The Red Children's Association was founded in 2018 by Turkish fashion designer Simay Bülbül Saripinar with the goal of ensuring that children under protection grow up as healthy individuals in a family environment, acquiring good habits, and preparing for life.

In the December of 2019, the Red Children Association launched the “Science and Design Center”. The project is a workshop designed to help children living in dormitories and love houses discover themselves. It aims to provide innovative and sustainable solutions to help support the education of innovative, visionary, and qualified young people of the future. The center also aims to provide consultancy services to help children and young people choose their professions.

The Association started offerring university scholarship program to young students in February 2020. A total of 50 students have been given a monthly scholarship assistance of 300 TL.

Goals and Purpose

The Red Children Association was established with the goal of providing a healthy and loving environment for children under protection, where they can grow up to be physically, educationally, psycho-socially healthy individuals with good habits and be prepared for life. The organization focuses on increasing the awareness of foster families in the society, mentoring young people over the age of 18 who are out of state protection and carrying out project activities that contribute to the development of children in the kindergarten.

The vision of The Red Children Association is to ensure that children and young people have a loving future. The organization develops various projects to support children in areas such as education, work, internships, and scholarships. The mission is to lend a helping hand to every child who needs support and to support children in all areas, including material, spiritual, health, and education. The organization implements necessary collaborations with public and private institutions and organizations to increase the awareness of the concept of foster family in the public opinion.

The core values of the organization are to be useful to humanity, transparency and accountability, and to be a supra-political organization. The organization derives its name from the "Red Zone", which refers to the region that needs to be supported by society. The aim is to protect the health of all children in the Red Zone and to help them develop their skills by receiving good education and growing up in an environment of love and trust.

The Red Children Association works on various topics related to children, including children in orphanages and under protection, children with financial disabilities for education, children in prison, children at risk who need protection, children with mental and physical disabilities, abused children, children with health problems for whom organ donation and treatment are costly, and street children. The organization aims to ensure that all children have equal life rights in the society and provide material and moral support in line with their needs. The ultimate goal is to bring out all the colors that already exist in every child and to provide a helping hand to those in need.

Impact

The Red Children Association's Science and Design Center project aims to provide equal education opportunities to children under state protection. Through the workshops and activities held at the center, children are introduced to science, art, and technology, and are given guidance on their future professions. The project also aims to increase children's awareness of their individual abilities, develop their self-confidence, and provide them with the necessary skills for their future careers. The workshops are organized and conducted by expert volunteer trainers and supported by the volunteer mothers of the association.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the center held 19 workshops for a total of 200 children. The workshops covered various topics, including science, chemistry, technology, informatics, art, design, painting, ceramics, cooking, and baking. The workshops were held on Tuesdays for children aged 3-5 and on Saturdays for children aged 6-12. The children and their mothers were able to take home the products they made during the workshops.

In addition to the Science and Design Center project, the Red Children Association also carries out other projects, such as the Mentoring Program, the Second Hand Goods Project: Givin, and the University Scholarship, Employment and Internship Program. These programs aim to contribute to the social and educational lives of young people who have to leave the dormitory because they have completed the age of 18 and are receiving higher education. The programs provide support for young people to adjust to their lives outside the dormitory, meet their basic needs, and achieve their educational and professional goals.

The Red Children Association's projects have a significant impact on the lives of children and young people in Turkey. Through these projects, the association provides educational opportunities and support to children who are under state protection and helps them develop their skills and self-confidence. The association's goal is to increase the completion success rate of young people who are in contact with the Red Children Association and to ensure that they have a profession. With the help of various projects and programs, the association strives to change the lives of children and young people, and ultimately change the society for the better.
